Comet 17P Holmes, November 5th, 2007Comet 17P Holmes, November 5th, 2007, 0:00 - 0:35 UT. Clear skies with the limiting magnitude around 4.0, seeing 5 (fair). TMB Optical 105mm f/6.2 refractor on an alt-az mount. Magnification 27x-47x, field of view approximately 2.4 degrees. The comet appears larger than the last time I observed it but the inner coma is smaller and dimmer. I could not determine if a pseudo-nucleus was visible or not. However there was a faint yet noticeable tail visible. I used different deep-sky filters including a Baader UHC-S filter to helped bring out the fainter detail in the comet. |
